12 Great Places to Eat in Bonito

Bonito/MS will delight you not only because of its natural beauties, but also because of its gastronomy. The city is full of places to eat, and eat well. From the traditional regional restaurants which serve freshwater fish, to the tapioca kiosks in the main square, snacks, pizzas, and even places with exotic meats, you'll find options to every taste here.

We will list here a few tips with places to eat in the center of the city at night or in a free day. While you are enjoying the tours, almost every one of them offer delicious farm lunches to their visitors, talk to our agents to include this option.

 

Casa do João

A must in Bonito, a tour on its own! Besides the variety of dishes and the excellent service, its a charming place. It has a garden, tables under a tree, rustic furniture and an art gallery inside the restaurant. It was recently awarded the best restaurant of the MS by the Prazeres da Mesa magazine, by popular vote.

The Traíra sem Espinha, the Pintado a Urucum, the Pirarucu com molho de gengibre and other typical pantanal dishes are the specialty of the house. The guavira dessert and the Estância Mimosa milk jam are also hits.

It opens for lunch and dinner.

Tapera Restaurant

One of the most traditional restaurants of Bonito, operating for over 30 years, located in the beginning of the main street, close to the square. Strolling on the sidewalk you can already feel the ambiance and see the huge mango tree inside the restaurant, to which the roof and tables open space.

The Tapera Restaurant serves mainly freshwater fishes and meat, and its specialty is abundance! Dishes for 2 people serve 3 and the food is delicious. The Pintado na Telha and the Guavira Mousse are always recommended!

Juanita Restaurant

Half chef half mother, Juanita welcomes her clients with care. The restaurant is located outside the main streets of the city center, but you need only ask anyone for the "Juanita”.

For lunch they serve a delicious homemade food buffet, a table with fresh salads and hot dishes in clay pans. And at night, a la carte, the famous Pacu na Brasa without fishbones with a delicious caper seasoning, sided by rice, pirão and boiled vegetables, and also the Picanha na Pedra sided by manioc, rice, vinaigrette and flour au garlic.

It opens for lunch (Buffet and a la carte) and dinner (only a la carte).

Zapi Zen

For those who enjoy a lighter meal at night, the Zapi Zen is a great option! It is a small and great vibes place, with chair on the sidewalk, candlelight, located in a calm street right in the city center.

It serves individual pizzas on a hot plate, with traditional or wholemeal homemade paste, and wraps, besides mixes of juices that go very well and special beers. The ingredients are fresh, flavours refined and the tomato sauce homemade. The most asked for pizzas are the Anhumas (eggplant, pepper and garlic) and Patagônia (zucchini, white cheese, green olive and chestnut), being a great option for vegetarians, and there are also the pepperoni and chicken pizzas to cater to the more traditional tastes.

Cantinho do Peixe

You go up a few streets from the main one from the square to arrive at one of the most tradtional restaurants of the city, known by its simplicity and well prepared food.

The Cantinho do Peixe serves traditional pantanal dishes, with a great variety of options in the menu, specially the freshwater fish in many cookings and sauces, there are also meats, broths, salads and pastas. It is hard to mentin a specialty, but the Moqueca de Pintado à Corumbá and Caiman Strogonoff are hits. And some nights there is live music with Seu Genaro, playing paraguayan harp.

It opens for lunch and dinner (closed on wednesdays).

Cantinho do Peixe

Encontro das Águas

Located inside the Águas de Bonito Hotel, the Encontro das Águas restaurant mixes the regional flavor of the Mato Grosso do Sul with international techniques, taking a concept of regional flavor to a more perfected state.

Its dishes are based on meat, chicken, regional fish, pastas and risottos, snacks and portions, besides many options of drinks and beverages.

Aipim – Cozinha de Raízes

A charming atmosphere, in a calm place, worth visiting to have a pleasant meal.

The chef Magda Moraes responsible for the restaurant puts a lot of thought into the flavors and uses her creativity. The house serves revisited regional dishes, and uses products from the hotel's organic garden in its recipes. The traditional Pacu Assado becomes a sophisticated dish!

A good idea is to lunch there in between tours, or have a family or romantic dinner.

It opens for breakfast, lunch and dinner.

Located at Rua Monte Castelo 804, to the right of the Posto Aroeira.

 

 

 

Taboa

Half bar half restaurant, located in the main street right in the city center, the Taboa is the point of Bonito/MS. It is known for its own Taboa liquor, originally resulting of the mix of honey, cinnamon, powder guarana and natural herbs. Its walls are all signed by people who have been there and it offers live music every night.

Besides being the most famous bar of the city, it also offers dishes and snacks, it is the ideal place if you want to eat and enjoy the night. Cold beer, Taboa drinks, the Pantanal broth and others with Caiman meat are the highlights.

Sale & Pepe

A simple and delicious place, mixing oriental food and regional dishes. It has a cozy and peaceful atmosphere, with outside tables and it is located near the main street at the city center.

The most asked for dishes are the Piraputanga filled with banana flour, the Sashimi de piranha, the Yakissoba and it is also a great place for snacks with beer as beverage. It has a pintado skewer, portions and other starters.

It opens for dinner.

Vício da Gula

A small corner place at the main street opposite the Taboa bar, perfect for a snack or coffee (as the name implies).

They started making “tour kits” when there were not many snackbars in Bonito, until they opened in 2000 the little gastronomic shop with delicious snacks, irresistible sweets you could see through the glass, juices and the famous X-Jacaré, that goes very well with the Guavira Milk-shake (a typical fruit from the region).

Hamburgueria

If you like to snack at night, this hamburgueria will make you happy! It is a simple place, recently opened, with tables outside and a countryside atmosphere.

The house serves snacks with homemade hamburger, the type of meat depends on the day, but there are always the filet and the rib eye that are hits. There are not many options on the menu besides the traditional with addons, and every snack come accompanied by many homemade sauces (traditional mayonese, garlic, olive, pepper, etc) and french fries.

It opens for dinner.

Turquesa Árabe & Natural

For a snack or a full meal, this is a good, simple and delicious option. The restaurant has tables outside and serves arabian snacks, natural food and juices, being a great option for vegetarians and who wants something light.

For lunch colorful and healthy dishes, at night many arabian delights, esfiha, falafel, raw kibe etc, everything homemade with fresh ingredients.

O Casarão

A delicious meal waits for you and your family at O Casarão. Right in the city center, the restaurant has a welcoming atmosphere and delicious dishes, be it on the daily buffet, on the a la carte dishes, or even in the fish rotation. The specialty is the Pintado a Urucum na Telha. Imagine a pintado filet à dorê covered with a sauce made of coconut milk, cream of milk, urucum, tomato, onion and bell pepper gratin in the oven. To side, rice and pirão.

Opens for lunch and dinner.
